If your only experience visiting Connecticut has been driving on Rt. 84 from Danbury to Stockbridge, or along I95 from New York to Providence, then you haven’t experienced the true beauty of the Litchfield Hills in Northwestern Connecticut. Driving through the scenic and sometimes mountainous areas of the area, you are surrounded by lakes, rivers and beautiful farm country. You won’t see strip malls, or even grocery stores in most of the towns here. It is a quiet and peaceful region, where people come to get away from it all.

Who Participates in CMT?
Students enrolled in public school in Connecticut are required to take the CMT in Grades 3 through 8. Since 1985, the CMT has assessed essential mathematics, reading and writing skills that students are expected to master. The content of the test is based on The Connecticut Curriculum Frameworks. State and federal laws require that all students participate in statewide tests such as the CMT.

ON a cold Saturday morning in February, Shawn Pelak and David Parent were at the Sterling Memorial Library at Yale University, in New Haven, Conn., soon after the doors opened. But the couple, from Ann Arbor, Mich., wasn’t there to hit the books.
